1. Open the FCS (duh). Doesn't matter what mods you open or anything, you're not going to edit mod files.
2. Click "Open Any" up along the top.
3. Find your savegame in the "save" folder.
4. Find and open your squad's platoon file in the "platoon" folder. It's "Nameless_0.platoon" by default, but can be different if you've renamed your squad.
5. Inside you should find each of your characters listed twice, along with a ton of entries named "0". Rename both entries for the character you want to rename.
6. This one is a bit more complicated. You'll also need to change the name listed in one of the many entries named "0". Easiest way to find the right one is to click on "changes" up at the top.
This will list all the entries and what they are. The one you're looking for is a "GAMESTATE_CHARACTER" type, so just look through all of them till you find it.
It'll have the character's name in there, so it shouldn't be hard to find the right one. Just tedious if you have a lot of characters.
7. Save the file.
8. Load up your save in the game and enjoy your character's new name.
